波多の明翠を語る上で“楽”という文字は欠かせないパートナーとなっております。 2005年1月に滞在していたニューヨークのアパートで“楽”の象形文字が降臨。 それ以降“楽”の象形文字をモチーフに刺激的な街であるニューヨークをテーマに描き続けておりましたが、 その後“楽”が独り立ちし、明翠の分身として様々な作品の中に現れております。 書という概念はモノトーンの世界で文字を一気に書きあげるものですが、何層も文字を重ねカラフルな墨を使い、ゴールドの墨でドリッピングをして仕上げています。 文字は絵画でいうモチーフと考え、ある時は擬人化し、またある時は自然物として表現した独自の表現世界を築いており、古典的な書のイメージを打破したコンテンポラリーアートとしての新しい分野のSho(書)＝SumiArtと言えよう。 東日本大震災以降、東北沿岸部を自らの脚で走った事により五感で感じた事をテーマの作品を発表。 今回は東日本大震災をテーマにした作品に加え「本州縦断フットレース」「さくら道国際ネイチャーラン」の完走をテーマにした作品も展示いたします。

The letter “Raku” is an indispensable partner when talking about Hatano Meisui. The hieroglyph of “Raku” descended on his apartment in New York where she stayed in January 2005. Since then, she has been drawing on the theme of exciting city New York with this letter as a motif, After that, “Raku” became independent, and appeared in various works as an alter ego of Meisui. Usually, the concept of calligraphy is writing only single stroke in the black and white world, but she makes lots of layers with using colorful inks, then finishes works by dripping with gold ink. She thinks that letters are motifs in paintings. Sometimes anthropomorphic, and the other times, as a natural object to express her own unique world. It means, she breaks the classic image and build a new field of contemporary art,Sho (=SumiArt). After the Great East Japan Earthquake, she is creating artworks inspired her own five sences through walking on coast in northeast Japan, where seriously damaged because of earthquake. In this solo exhibition, she exhibits artworks about the Great East Japan Earthquake, and also, about the run the whole distance of  “Honshu Longitudinal Foot Race” and “Sakurado International Nature Run”.
