本展覧会のタイトルである“Spectrum” とは分光学で、太陽光をプリズムに通したときに現れる虹の帯などを表し、広義では「変動するものの範囲」「連続体」といった意味を持ちます。
現代アートというものは、様々な表現方法を駆使して、現代社会が持つ問題や現代社会に生きる人間の内面を多角的に読み解き、違った視点から表現し、訴えるものであり、何より私たちにとって重要な身近な未来を予見し、希望を伝えるものでもあります。
2020年の新型コロナウイルス（以下COVID-19と表記）の世界的感染拡大は、私たちの生活、経済、文化全てにおいて大きく変化をもたらしました。COVID-19と共存する社会の中でひとりひとりのアーティストが柔軟な視点をもって、アートを通して伝達することの重要性や関係性をあらためて見つめ直し、変わらなければいけないというメッセージを外部に送りだすのもアートの大きな役割であるのかもしれません。
本展覧会では、弊画廊選抜による作家13 名の多種多様な表現の作品により、COVID-19共存時代の美術表現を展観し、次世代の方向性と可能性を探ります。
また、本展は弊画廊bisスペースで開催されるSpectrum IIとの共同開催となります。


The word “spectrum” in the title of this exhibition is a spectroscopic term used in the field of spectroscopy, which is used to decompose complex information and signals, such as the rainbow bands that appear when sunlight is passed through a prism, and arrange them in a regular order of quantity and intensity, but in a broader sense it means “range of things that change” or “continuum”.
Contemporary art uses a variety of methods of expression to decipher the problems of contemporary society and the inner workings of people living in contemporary society from many different perspectives, expressing and appealing to us from different perspectives, but above all, it is a way to foresee the future, which is important to us, and to convey hope. Each artist should have a flexible point of view and take a fresh look at the importance of communicating through art and the relationship between art and the relationship between art and the world, and perhaps we should be aware that art has a major role to play in sending a message to the outside world that we need to change.
By bringing together the works that have been created through such a process, we hope that each artist’s approach will spread like a rainbow across the entire space, reflecting and sharing awareness from the artist to the viewer, and continuing the awareness from the artist to the viewer, so that art will be connected in a social context.
In this exhibition, we would like to explore the direction and possibilities for the next generation through the works of 13 artists selected from our gallery. We hope that this exhibition will contribute to the exchange between the artists and the general public, and also to the exchange between the artists and the general public, which will contribute to the creative activities.
